Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced the arraignment of two Buffalo women, Lakeya N. Richerson, 22, and Joshalyn S. Paul, 21, following a bloody altercation that erupted inside the Walden Galleria on Friday, February 13, 2026.

According to prosecutors, Richerson and Paul acted together in a brutal scuffle that left three women—reportedly known to the accused—rushed to ECMC with stab wounds. The chaos unfolded around 7:14 p.m., shocking shoppers and sending emergency responders racing to the busy Cheektowaga mall. The three victims were transported by ambulance and treated for various injuries sustained during the attack.

Both Richerson and Paul now face three counts of Assault in the Second Degree, classified as Class D violent felonies, as well as one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor. If convicted of the most serious charge, each woman could serve up to seven years behind bars.

Following their arraignment before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice John J. Wanat on Saturday morning, bail for both defendants was set at $10,000 cash or bond. The pair is scheduled to return to court for a felony hearing on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.

District Attorney Keane praised the Cheektowaga Police Department for their swift response and thorough investigation. The prosecution team includes Assistant District Attorneys Kevin L. Southern, Peter M. Pinelli, and Kathryn E. Lawrence.

As with all criminal cases, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
